AHA

Groove Jones was asked to develop a VR Training application for the American Heart Association.

02

The Experience

Through this Unity experience users are taught how to operate an AED and perform CPR. Users are given the option to enter Learn mode, where they will be given a Lesson on operating the AED. After they can go into Practice mode, where you are tested on what was learned and given a score.

03

Mock-ups

In order to give our Unity Devs some precedent to work with, I created a set of motion mock-up patterns after studying the brand guidelines of AHA.

04

WebM

The instructions provided to our user consisted of prerendered 3D Animation that I created in Cinema4D and Octane render. After comping and designing in After Effects, I split the animations in 6 Separate WebM states that our Unity Devs could turn into a state machine.

Challenges

Due to the need to rerender every new iteration that required changes to 3D, there was a lot of time spent waiting for updates. The beauty renders coming from Octane looked wonderful, but a more modular method using Unity's own renderer could have possibly sped up iteration times on the motion design end.
